Our Three-Hour Dolphin Strand Feeding Expedition starts at The Old Oyster Factory docks near the headwaters of Broad Creek. As we glide through the Lowcountry Salt Marsh, you'll watch for dolphins, birds, and beautiful scenery.
Leaving Broad Creek, our fast, comfortable expedition boat brings us quickly across the Calibogue (pronounced "Kali-Bogee") Sound, past Daufuskie Island, and all the way to the backwater creeks and estuaries around Bull Island.
In these secluded backwater creeks we are sometimes lucky enough to catch dolphins "strand feeding" - a unique activity among dolphins in the Lowcounty.
Dolphin strand feeding is a unique activity of dolphins in the Lowcountry in which a small group of 3 to 5 male dolphins rush the smooth, muddy banks of shallow backwater creeks and push a batch of fish onto the shore. The dolphins strand themselves on the shore to eat the fish and then wiggle back into the water to swim away with their meal in their stomach.
Choose a cool, early morning trip. Bask in the midday sun. Or enjoy the serentity of a Hilton Head sunset. We offer cruises throughout the day.
